I must admit a bias here… Jungalow style with its eclectic mix of old, new, folkloristic, and an unusual mix of materials all combined with greenery is a personal fave of mine as my own design aesthetic is also enhanced by the things and experiences I have collected over the years and throughout my travels.
The creator of Jungalow style, designer Justina Blakely states that the only rule of Jungalow is that it is a reflection of your own personality and experiences – from travels or otherwise. And so with this in mind I decided to put together 3 “looks” loosely related to Jungalow for our stand at the interiors show Living North Newcastle 2018.
The first is Green Jungalow, is most closely associated with the original style where I have blended vintage look with contemporary, mixing up materials and patterns and of course tons of greenery. Our recycled green glass Hydnum floor lamp with Aruba green lampshade perfectly sums up this look.
The second Monochrome Jungalow pares back the style for a more masculine take on the look… I just LOVE the intricate Zebra bone inlay stool/side table and the fun zebra top hat pendant!
The third look is epitomised by warm gold tones and sumptuous velvet fabrics and a splash of Deco combining to make up Lux Jungalow. The iconic polished brass palm tree lamp is set to be the standard bearer of this glamorous style.
